Web Browser Cache (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Edge)

  1. Google Chrome:

    • Open Chrome and click on the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
    • Go to "More tools" > "Clear browsing data."
    • Select the time range (e.g., Last hour, Last 24 hours, All time).
    • Check "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files."
    • Click on "Clear data."
  2. Mozilla Firefox:

    • Open Firefox and click on the three-line menu in the top-right corner.
    • Go to "Library" > "History" > "Clear Recent History..."
    • In the Time range to clear dropdown, select "Everything."
    • Check "Cookies" and "Cache."
    • Click on "Clear Now."
  3. Microsoft Edge:

    • Open Edge and click on the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
    • Go to "Settings" > "Privacy, search, and services."
    • Under "Clear browsing data," click on "Choose what to clear."
    • Select "Cached images and files" and "Cookies and other site data."
    • Click on "Clear now."

System Cache (Temporary Files)

  1. Disk Cleanup:

    • Type "Disk Cleanup" in the Windows search bar and open the Disk Cleanup app.
    • Select the drive you want to clean up (usually C:).
    • Click on "OK."
    • Check the types of files you want to delete (e.g., Temporary files, Thumbnails).
    • Click on "OK" and then "Delete Files."
  2. Temporary Files Settings:

    • Press Windows key + I to open Settings.
    • Go to "System" > "Storage."
    • Click on "Temporary files."
    • Check the types of files you want to delete (e.g., Temporary files, Recycle Bin).
    • Click on "Remove files."

Application Cache

  1. Individual Applications:
    • Some applications have their own cache that can be cleared within their settings or preferences menu. Look for options related to clearing cache or temporary files within each specific application.

Restart Your Computer

After clearing caches, it's often helpful to restart your computer to ensure all changes take effect and to start with a clean slate.

Note: Clearing cache can log you out of websites and delete some preferences. Make sure you're okay with this before proceeding.
